It was my first time to ride the GO bus.

On our way home from Toronto, I suddenly had this weird feeling… like a flashback. It was like I was on the bus home from Manila to Laguna. School bag on my lap, fastfood on my hands. Expressway feel with trucks and cars and SUVs. Billboards at the side of the road. Buildings of different sizes, for different purposes. Pakiramdam ko nakasakay lang ako sa BBL galing Gil Puyat, tapos pagtapos ng isang oras, nasa tapat na ako ng Waltermart.

Ang malungkot pa doon, hinihiling ko na sa pagbaba ko, makakakita ako ng tricycle na dadalhin ako sa bahay namin. At hinihiling ko, mahabang masamang panaginip lang ang lahat, at sa paggising ko, babalik na sa dati.

Really, it’s not the place I miss most. It’s the people. I think I’ve said this tons and tons of times though, but whatever. Iba mga tao dito, para sa akin, mahirap makipagkaibigan. Hindi naman dahil sa anti-social ako, which I’m not (at least not most of the time) pero dahil sobrang hindi madali makahanap ng taong hindi ka sisiraan ‘pag nakatalikod ka.

I’ve dealt with this backstabbing bullshit in high school, and I survived, but this is different. Parang halos lahat ata ng nakita kong sobrang buddies na parang BFFs na, after ilang araw nagsisiraan. Todo-backstab-an. I tell you, I’ve heard it and I’ve seen it. (One of the perks of watching from the sidelines, sadly.)

Hindi talaga gaya sa Pinas. Pag sabay kayong nag-lunch, pag sabay kayong umuwi, pag buddies na kayo sa simula, walang gaguhan, walang backstab-an, walang bastuhan. Buddies kung buddies, maliban na lang kung gumawa ng kagaguhang hindi dapat ginagawa ng kaibigan. Gets niyo ba ?

Because my heart was beating like crazy before I went offline. Two last things that just wanted to be said… luckily (?) I was able to control it again.

I’m too scared to say it. I’m too afraid of losing whatever we have right now.
